Community Involvement

Giving back to communities, organizations, and schools has always been a key value and priority.  I am privileged to participate in various family, community, business, volunteering, mentoring, and coaching activities.

Family

  • Family support is key in ensuring our children are exposed to positive influences and learning moments.  I enjoy participating in events for my children such as field trips, classroom parties, holiday performances, Daddy-Daughter dances, or just spending time together at various family functions.  One of my favorites is reading to my children’s classrooms during “March Is Reading Month” every year.

  • Proud supporters of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation by actively participating in fundraising walks and more importantly, providing support to family and friends.

  • Proud parishioners of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary Macedonian Orthodox Cathedral in Sterling Heights.

MISSION STATEMENT

Opportunity

20190315_085356.jpg

I’m a strong believer in accountability and transparency in Utica Community Schools (UCS).  Having a 1st and 3rd grader early in their K-12 journey, it was evident that there are opportunities for improvement.  My family made a conscious decision to stay within the district knowing that UCS was top ranked in education in Michigan, but we have a long way to go in helping parents be more engaged and striving for the best when it comes to our children.  Every child deserves the proper resources, focus, and opportunity to become successful in their future endeavors.

You deserve to be informed. You deserve transparency. You deserve someone with the business experience I bring from my 20 years at General Motors who knows about collaboration, governance, results, and inclusion on all levels.  I’m a father, husband and taxpayer in UCS.  I am best suited to represent you and your children.  I ask for you vote to ensure you get a UCS School Board member who represents all stakeholders.  Parents, students, residents, teachers, administrators, para-professionals, bus drivers, and community leaders will all get a seat at the table.  I will work to get a culture change, starting at the top.  I will work to restore essential leadership that is lacking.

I am running for the Board of Education because I believe the decisions made now will impact the quality of our children’s education for years to come.  It’s time that someone help lead the administration into fiscally sound decisions that offer more than teacher pay cuts, privatization of services, and cutting back on school supplies and activities.  We have a chance to do great things to set our community up for long term success.
